White Sox atYankees It's a double whammy for the Yanks: They have to face one of baseball'shottest pitchers and be reminded that he used to be one of their own. Chicagoace Jose Contreras, whom the Bombers traded in 2004, hasn't lost since lastAugust (he's won his last 17 decisions) and is 2--0 with a 0.60 ERA against NewYork in his career. Both teams are in second place in their divisions, but theWhite Sox lead the AL wild-card race. The Yankees are in danger of missing theplayoffs for the first time since 1993. Check listings

Shane Mosley vs.Fernando Vargas Mosley (42--4) is known for his lightning-quick hands, but whenthese junior middleweights met in February (below) he might have showed he canuse his head too: Vargas says a first-round butt from Mosley caused Vargas'seye to swell grotesquely. The fight was stopped in the ninth, with Mosleydeclared the winner, even though Vargas trailed by just a point on two judges'cards and led on the third. Says Vargas (26--3) about their Vegas rematch,"We have unfinished business." HBO PPV 9 p.m.
