Laura, a juniorforward at Unity Christian High and a member of U.S. Soccer's Women's under-17team, led the Crusaders to a 28-0 season and their second consecutive DivisionIII state championship. She scored 42 goals, had 34 assists and was namedMichigan's 2006 Miss Soccer.
Brian Flores
CARLSBAD, N.MEX.> Baseball
Flores, a southpawwho will be a junior at Arizona State this fall, is the National Junior CollegeAthletic Association male athlete of the year. He has a record of 27-3 over thelast two years, and he led New Mexico Junior College to the 2005 nationaltitle. He was a two-time Western Junior College Athletic Conference MVP.
Bianca Knight
RIDGELAND, MISS.> Track and Field
Bianca, a seniorat Ridgeland High, was named the 2005-06 Gatorade national girls' track andfield athlete of the year. Early in the season she had the nation's top highschool times in the 100 meters (11.40) and 200 meters (23.14). She later won agold medal in the 200 meters (23.06) at the Nike Outdoor Nationals inGreensboro, N.C.
Justen Roth
MILLBURN, N.J.> Tennis
Roth, a recentgraduate of Millburn High, beat Steve Erickson 6-4, 6-4 to win the New Jerseysingles tennis championship and lead the Millers to the state team title. Hehad a 31-0 season record and was named first-team all-state; he will playtennis at the University of Pennsylvania.
Ivy Renfroe
JACKSON, TENN.> Softball
Ivy, a sophomorepitcher at Trinity Christian Academy, led the Lady Lions to their first statesoftball title. The lefthander had a 24-2 record with 10 no-hitters (includingtwo perfect games), an 0.40 ERA and 247 strikeouts in 161 innings. She alsobatted .478 with 63 RBIs. She was all-West Tennessee player of the year.
Joe Horn
WAYNESFIELD, OHIO> Track and Field
Horn, a recentgraduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High, won the 100, 200 and 400 meters andanchored the winning 4√ó200-meter relay team (a meet-record 1:29.56) as he ledthe Tigers to the Division III boys' state title. Last football season, as anall-Ohio wide receiver, he caught 20 touchdown passes.
