Week Ahead
FRIDAY 2/9
Davis Cup: United States vs. Czech
Republic The U.S. has two of the top six singles players in the world and the best doubles team, brothers Mike and Bob Bryan (right), to boot. Alas, they play these events not on paper but on clay, the worst surface for the Americans. In three of the last five years, the Yanks have been eliminated in an overseas match on dirt. They'll try to buck that trend in Ostrava. Tennis Channel Friday 8 p.m., Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 8 p.m.
SATURDAY 2/10
Luis Collazo vs. Shane Mosley
Looks like Sugar Shane is getting his mojo back. After suffering through the worst stretch of his professional career (four losses and one no decision in six fights from 2002 to '04, plus allegations of steroid use), Mosley (43--4) has won his last four bouts and has a shot at the WBC interim welterweight title. Collazo (27--2) lost the WBA belt to Ricky Hatton last year. HBO 9:45 p.m.
West Virginia at No. 2 UCLA
The Bruins lost three starters from last year's Final Four team, but the new guys are fitting in nicely. UCLA won its first 14 games and spent six weeks atop the polls, thanks largely to new starting point guard Darren Collison, who has averaged 5.9 assists while hitting 53% of his shots. The Mountaineers also lost a few key players. Folk hero Kevin Pittsnogle and forward Mike Gansey are gone from last year's Sweet 16 squad, yet at 18--4, West Virginia is again looking like a tourney team. CBS 1 p.m.
Pro Bowl
There are two big questions for Bill Belichick, who is coaching the AFC. One, will he give the ball to LaDainian Tomlinson (left)? After a few New England players gave LT the choke sign following a playoff game, the MVP accused the Pats of being classless—and said, "It all starts at the top," a swipe at Belichick. And two, will Bill wear a hoodie in Honolulu? CBS 6 p.m.
MONDAY 2/12
Real Sports
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban (right) talks to SI's Frank Deford about, among other things, NBA commissioner David Stern. Think Cuban will say anything interesting about the man who has fined him more than $1.4 million since 2000? Also, Bryant Gumbel goes one-on-one with the reigning National League MVP, Ryan Howard. HBO 10 p.m.
SI PICK OF THE WEEK
SUNDAY 2/11
50-50 Proposition
The man they call Agent Zero is zeroing in on his next victim. Before the season, Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas vowed he would score 50 points apiece on Phoenix and Portland because he felt Suns coach Mike D'Antoni and Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan, assistant coaches for USA Basketball, did not give him a fair shot to make the team. Arenas checked D'Antoni off the list in December, when he dropped 54 on the Suns. Tonight he gets his first shot at the Blazers, one of the league's worst defensive teams. Portland's opponents are shooting 47.5%, the fourth highest mark in the NBA. Check listings 1 p.m.
