Big Play with Steve Bosdosh

WHO: MorganPressel

WHAT: Sand wedgefrom 108 yards to 10 feet

WHERE: 485-yardpar-5 18th hole at Mission Hills Country Club

WHEN: Final roundof the Kraft Nabisco Championship

WHY

Pressel is anemotional player, but the beautiful wedge shot she hit to the 72nd hole showedthat she can perform under pressure. Playing to a rock-hard green surrounded bywater, Pressel used the right mix of timing, distance control, rhythm and ballstriking, keeping her arms and body connected or working in unison. No wondershe's third in scoring average (69.90) and sixth in putting average.

STEVE'S TIP

Stay Connected onPartial Shots

On short orpartial shots, many golfers take a backswing that's too long, then deceleratethrough the ball, resulting in poor contact. Solution: Keep your arms and bodyconnected, which promotes a shorter backswing and a complete follow-through. Toachieve this consistently, practice hitting balls while holding a towel in yourarmpits (right). If the arms and body are connected, the towel will remain inplace.

... AND ANOTHERTHING

"Averageplayers can learn more from LPGA pros than from the men. PGA Tour pros swing sohard, it's difficult to see what they're doing."
