THE QUESTIONS WITH Juan Pierre
What was your welcome-to-the-big-leagues moment?
The first time I put on a helmet with the earflap on just one side.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
My first big league hit. It was against Jose Silva of the Pirates. I swung with all my might and hit a dribbler up the third base line.
Your favorite off-day activity?
Watching the NBA playoffs on TV.
If I were commissioner for a day, I'd ...
eliminate that waiting around to come out of a commercial break on TV before we start the inning. If the pitcher is ready to go, you should go.
If I weren't playing baseball, I'd be ...
I'd like to think I would be in the NBA, but I'd probably be an accountant. That's what I studied in college before I got drafted. I'd be handling somebody else's money right now.
LAST WEEK
Pierre, who attended the University of South Alabama, had three hits in three games against the Braves and is batting .282 with 12 stolen bases.
THIS WEEK
The Dodgers have a weekend series with the Reds, against whom Pierre went 7 for 17 and stole three bases in a four-game series last September.
