Big Play

Who: SergioGarcía

What: Missed10-foot par putt to win

Where: 499-yardpar-4 18th hole at Carnoustie

When: Final roundof the British Open

Why:
García had pushed several putts to the right earlier on Sunday, so at 18 heovercompensated and pulled the putt that would've given him the claret jug. Themiss won't devastate García. After only two tournaments using a belly putter hehas almost overcome the yips, and he had no three-putts last week. With theputter anchored in his gut, García makes a more flowing stroke. He'll win amajor when he stops lifting his head too quickly at crunch time.

Brad's Tip
My Big Four Keys to Solid Putting

Whether you use a standard model or a belly putter, there are four things youmust do at address to putt well.

1. Eyes over theball. This helps you get aligned to the target.

2. Hands below theshoulders. To do this you must bend your elbows.

3. Hips above theheels. This makes you settle your weight over the balls of your feet.

4. Putter shaft inline with the forearms. Without doing this, you can't make a naturally arcingstroke.
