Ayers, a graduate of Ravenwood High, won his third Class AAA decathlon championship with a state-record 7,377 points. He finished second at last week's AAU National Junior Olympics with 7,079 points and was the Nashville Tennessean's All-Midstate boys' track athlete of the year.

VENTURA, CALIF. > Soccer
Cressy, 17, won the Golden Boot as most outstanding player after she scored two goals in the final to lead the Eagles Soccer Club to the under-17 U.S. youth soccer national title. A graduate of Buena High, she won gold at the 2005 Deaflympics with the U.S. team and will play at Kansas this fall.

Mara, a junior at West Potomac High, qualified for the Olympic trials this month when she won gold at the senior nationals. In four days, she won five straight matches for the senior title and four straight matches for the junior title at the U.S. Junior Olympics.

HAVERHILL, MASS. > Candlepin Bowling
Godwin, a graduate of Whittier Regional Vocational High, swept all three divisions of the Massachusetts Candlepin Youth Championships, winning gold in the singles, doubles and team events. He was named all-events champ with a 133 pin average and bowled the best game with a score of 192.

RIVER RIDGE, LA. > Softball
Brignac, a graduate of John Curtis Christian School, is Gatorade's national player of the year. The righthander didn't allow an earned run in two years and finished her senior season with a 25--0 record, 21 no-hitters and seven perfect games. Her 4--0 record helped the U.S. win the junior world championship.

LONDON, ONT. > Golf
French, a graduate of Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, won the Royal Canadian Golf Association university championship in a playoff hole over Louis-Pierre Godin after shooting 11-under par in the four-round tournament. His play helped the Hawks win the team competition by 17 strokes.
