Sit 'Em
QUARTERBACK
JON KITNA
Lions AT Raiders
Kitna has receivers that most quarterbacks would envy, but in this game he will face last season's top-ranked pass defense: In '06 Oakland held 12 of 16 opposing quarterbacks to less than 200 yards. Plus, in Detroit's three games played on grass last year, Kitna averaged just 204.3 yards--nearly 60 below his season standard--and didn't throw a touchdown.
PHILLIP RIVERS
Chargers vs. Bears
The 25-year-old, in his second season as a starter, could be in for a big year. But any QB will be hard-pressed to rack up big numbers against a Chicago secondary featuring Pro Bowlers Mike Brown and Nathan Vasher.
RUNNING BACK
WARWICK DUNN
Falcons AT Vikings
In '06 Minnesota allowed a mere 985 rushing yards, becoming the second team since 1970 to permit fewer than 1,000 in a full season.
RUDI JOHNSON
Bengals vs. Ravens
In his four games as a starter when facing both Ed Reed and Ray Lewis, Johnson has averaged 69.8 yards and scored one TD.
CEDRIC BENSON
Bears AT Chargers
The RBs with both 100 yards and a TD in a game against San Diego in '06 were Shaun Alexander and Larry Johnson; Benson is neither.
TIGHT END
HEATH MILLER
Steelers AT Browns In recent years Willie Parker and Hines Ward have done most of the damage when Pittsburgh has taken on its AFC North rival. Meanwhile third-year man Miller has totaled a mere three catches for 53 yards and no TDs in his four career games against Cleveland.
WIDE RECEIVER
LEE EVANS
Bills vs. Broncos
Evans will end up among the AFC's top pass catchers in '07, but don't expect much this week, when he'll be covered by All-Pro corner Champ Bailey.
RANDY MOSS
Patriots AT Jets
New England won't employ Minnesota's old Randy Ratio to make sure Moss gets his touches--especially when he faces an impressive corner in rookie Darrelle Revis.
ERIC MOULDS
Titans AT Jaguars
He's clearly Vince Young's best WR--which makes it easy for Jacksonville to decide whom to sic All-Pro CB Rashean Mathis on. Moulds, as the Texans' second option last year, gained just 30 yards in two games against the Jags.
KICKER
ROBBIE GOULD
Bears AT Chargers
Last season's top-scoring kicker won't get many opportunities as the Merriman-led Bolts make a statement at home against the defending NFC champs.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
SAINTS AT COLTS
It's not just that New Orleans's D, despite ranking 11th last year, will give up a lot of points to Indy; Peyton Manning is also one of the toughest QBs to sack and intercept.
