Jones, a sophomore at Baylor, was named Big 12 female runner of the week for the second time in a row. An All-America last spring in the 800 meters, she won her first two races of the fall, a 4K in the Baylor Twilight Invitational (13:37.9) and a 5K in the BYU Autumn Classic (17:47.1), leading the Bears to two team titles.

Rachel Dawson
BERLIN, N.J. > Field Hockey
Dawson, a senior at North Carolina, was named ACC player of the week after totaling four goals in wins over No. 12 Michigan and No. 10 Iowa. A two-time All-America, the back-midfielder missed last season while competing for the U.S. national team that finished sixth at the World Cup.

Matt, a junior at Gray Stone Day School, won his second-straight junior national lumberjack championship for 10- to 18-year-olds. He won all three events: the ax throw, two-person crosscut (with his twin, Eric) and underhand chop (in an under-18 national record 15.34 seconds).

Casey Veenhof
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. > Football
Veenhof, a wideout for Sioux Falls of the United Indoor Football League, caught a nine-yard TD pass with seven seconds left to lead the Storm to its third-straight United Bowl title. Named the game's MVP, Veenhof, 30, caught seven passes for 74 yards after having only four catches in three regular-season games.

KALAMAZOO, MICH. > Paddling
Griffin, a senior at Central High, competed in nine events at the U.S. Canoe Association's canoe and kayak nationals and won gold in six, including junior division wins in the one-man canoe marathon and in both the one-man kayak sprint and marathon.

Lauren Mason
PEACHTREE CITY, GA. > Volleyball
Mason, a senior outside hitter at Presbyterian College, was named MVP in consecutive tournaments at Jacksonville and UNC-Wilmington, both won by the Blue Hose in their first year of Division I competition. She averaged 5.47 kills during that span and had three straight matches with at least 30 kills.
