Scott Phaydavong

Phaydavong, a senior running back at Drake, surpassed 5,000 career rushing yards on Sept. 15 and is the leading active rusher in Division I-AA with 5,296 yards on 822 carries, an average of 6.4 yards per carry. He has 29 100-yard rushing games and has surpassed 1,500 yards in each of his first three seasons.

PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. > Track and Field
Parker, a senior at Lincoln, is the first athlete from a historically black college or university to be named a finalist for the NCAA's Woman of the Year award. A six-time All-America, she placed third in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200 at the Division III championships.

Joey, a homeschooled high school senior, finished first in the 2007 U.S. junior national team trials and will be the top-ranked American at last December's world junior championships. He played for the U.S. team that finished 14th in 2006.

RACINE, WIS. > Racewalking
Tracy, 55, a dog trainer, won the national 10K racewalking championship for her age group and also had age-group victories in the 5K and 10K events at the U.S. masters national outdoor championships and the 1,500 meters at the Wisconsin Senior Olympics. She holds the U.S. outdoor record for her age group at 5K.

Marco Cherisma
DELRAY BEACH, FLA. > Soccer
Cherisma, a junior forward at Drury, is tied for third among Division II players with 13 goals. He scored all of his team's goals in a 5--0 victory over Upper Iowa, setting a school record and helping the Panthers win the Drury Invitational title. He was named Great Lakes Valley Conference player of the week.

Lucia Belassi
PAYSAND√ö, URUGUAY > Field Hockey
Belassi, a senior forward at Michigan, was named Big Ten co--offensive player of the week in consecutive weeks after scoring four goals and having five assists over four games. A 2006 All--Big Ten first team pick, she leads the No. 12 Wolverines with six goals and five assists.
