WHO'S Hot WHO'S Not

WHO'S Hot

Jerry Porter
Mouthy Raiders receiver, benched last season after pining for a trade and dissing then coach Art Shell, was in full splendor in Sunday's win over Miami. After snagging two TDs in a game for the first time in nearly two years, Porter told The Sacramento Bee, "I've had this feeling before.... I don't mind it all."

NFL Dallases
The Dallas Cowboys are 4--0 (which rhymes with Romo and T.O.), and Colts tight end Dallas Clark (left) was gettin' giddy after catching the first of two touchdowns on Sunday: He spiked the ball so hard that it went into the stands.

Coach Whisenhunt
Sweet: Ken's Cardinals are 2--2. Sweeter: They knocked back the Steelers (who bypassed him for their head-coaching job last January) on Sunday. "A special win," said Whisenhunt whose two-QB system has him looking like a genuine whiz.

Jorge Posada
Yankees catcher closed a .338, 20-homer season (yup, he's bound for free agency) by serving as manager for a day. And he won.

WHO'S Not

Joey Porter
Mouthy Dolphins linebacker guaranteed a win over the Raiders on Sunday. Oops. Porter was silenced on the field (four tackles) as Oakland had 299 rushing yards. "We're not a good team," said Porter of 0--4 Miami after the game, while Raiders tackle Warren Sapp, one who knows, explained, "It's tough when you run your mouth."

MLB Miguels
Marlins catcher Miguel Olivo got a five-game suspension for starting a brawl with the Mets' Jose Reyes, and O's shortstop Miguel Tejada (right) is balking at talk that he switch to third base, saying he'd rather be traded.

Coach Billick
Bad: Brian's Ravens are 2--2, 0--2 in their division. Worse: They got beaten by the Browns and running back Jamal Lewis—cut by Billick last February. Then Billick was criticized for not challenging a Lewis TD that might have been overturned.

Steve Downie
Rookie might've cracked the Flyers lineup—but got a deserved 20-game ban for a hit to the head of Ottawa's Dean McAmmond.

SI PLAYERS NFL POLL

Would you let your child wear a Michael Vick jersey?

Yes....... 54%

No....... 46%

FAST FACTS
The poll was done after Aug. 24, when Vick pleaded guilty to operating an interstate dogfighting ring, but before last week's news that he had tested positive for marijuana.... Nearly 63% of respondents age 24 and younger said, "Yes." ... Two thirds of quarterbacks said, "No." ... Vick, the only NFL QB to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season, has been suspended indefinitely by the league; he will be sentenced on the criminal charges on Dec. 10.... The NFL and Reebok have quit selling Vick jerseys.
