WE LIKE THE MATCHUP

QUARTERBACK

TRENT DILFER

49ers ATPanthers

No defense is lessof a threat to QBs than Carolina's, which has only 10 sacks and eightinterceptions this year. Dilfer won't set the joint on fire (his last 300-yardgame was in 2005), but he's a solid waiver-wire pickup if you need a substitutepasser.

JON KITNA

Lions ATVikings

In Week 2 he shookoff a concussion to throw for 245 yards and a TD in 30 minutes againstMinnesota. With a clear head and a full game against a secondary that has beenlousy (outside of Giants Stadium), he should do even better.

RUNNING BACK

KOLBY SMITH

Chiefs VS.Chargers

Following his150-yard, two-TD first start, he gets a date with a defense that allowed 157.8rushing yards per game in November.

JUSTIN FARGAS

Raiders VS.Broncos

On Sept. 16in Denver, Oakland's LaMont Jordan rushed for 159 yards. New starter Fargasgets a chance against the Broncos at home.

FRANK GORE

49ers ATPanthers

Gore owners shouldbe encouraged after seeing him reach the end zone for the first time in twomonths.

TIGHT END

JASON WITTEN

Cowboys VS.Packers

Coverage of tightends is the weakness of Green Bay's otherwise strong defense; the Packers areone of two teams to allow two 100-yard games to tight ends this year. Wittenhad big numbers (eight catches, 112 yards, one TD) in his only gameagainst Green Bay, in 2004.

WIDE RECEIVER

SIDNEY RICE

Vikings VS.Lions

With opponentsfocused on stopping the run, Minnesota's pass attack is taking off. Thatprocess will speed up against Detroit's lame secondary.

ANTHONYGONZALEZ

Colts VS.Jaguars

Filling in for theinjured Marvin Harrison on Thanksgiving, the rookie first-round pick had abreakout game: six catches for 105 yards against Atlanta.

HINES WARD

Steelers VS.Bengals

Five receivershave had multi-touchdown games against Cincinnati this year; Ward has had twoin his last four games against the Bengals.

KICKER

MIKE NUGENT

Jets ATDolphins

Yes, it's a greatdivision rivalry, but both offenses are struggling mightily--Miami even smellsa chance to get its first win--so expect a field goal contest.

DEFENSE / SPECIALTEAMS

SEAHAWKS ATEagles

Philly's offensiveline will give up sacks no matter who is calling the signals. Over the last twoweeks Seattle defensive end Patrick Kerney has six takedowns.
