Prichard, a 28-year-old sophomore at Spartanburg Methodist, won the NJCAA half-marathon in 1:22:00 and finished sixth at the national cross-country meet, completing the 5-km course in 17:18. The All-America runner completed a degree six years ago but returned to use her final semester of eligibility.

NEWARK, DEL. > Soccer
DeMatteis, 45, soccer coach at St. Mark's High for 22 years, led the Spartan boys to a 5--1 victory over Concord in the state quarterfinals, becoming Delaware's winningest coach in boys' and girls' soccer. The boys have 325 wins and 11 state championships; the girls have 223 wins and four state titles in 14 seasons.

Montee Ball
ST. LOUIS > Football
Montee, a junior running back at Timberland High, gained at least 187 rushing yards in each of the Timberwolves' 12 games. He led the St. Louis metro area with 3,077 yards, scored 32 touchdowns and was named first-team all-state in Missouri's Class 4.

RICHMOND HILL, GA. > Sailing
Rohde, a freshman at the Coast Guard Academy, won five of her final eight races to become the Intercollegiate Sailing Association national champion in the women's single-handed division. She is the second freshman to win the regatta and the first Bear to win a national title since 1968.

Louise Keoghan
SANTA MONICA, CALIF. > Cycling
Keoghan, 43, a television producer, won the Female Masters 2 division of the K2 Road Race on the Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand. The 192-km course has 2,300 vertical meters of climbing and is known as the toughest race in the Southern Hemisphere. She finished in 6:45, 14th among all women.

TEMPE, ARIZ. > Swimming
Adam, a senior at Corona del Sol High and a member of the U.S. junior national team, won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles at the Arizona Class 5A Division I meet; his 50 time (20.22) broke the state record set by Olympian Gary Hall Jr. in 1994.
