Tiger Woods chipped onto the 18th green last Saturday, setting up yet another birdie in his 19-under finish, to win the Buick Invitational by eight strokes in San Diego. Woods celebrated his 62nd Tour victory on Sunday—tying Arnold Palmer for fourth on the alltime list—with children from the Tiger Woods Foundation (inset).
Bicicle
Nikolai Krasnikov led fellow Russian rider Stanislav Arkhipov last Friday en route to winning a qualifying round at the Ice Speedway World Championships in Inzell, Germany. The racers used spikes (inset) for greater traction.
No Djok
As the sun set in Melbourne, No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic (left) upset top-ranked Roger Federer 7--5, 6--3, 7--6 last Friday in the Australian Open semifinals (page 50). Two days later Djokovic (inset, left) won his first Grand Slam title, after Maria Sharapova (inset, right) won her third.
