The Beat

WHEN DOLPHINS defensive end Jason Taylor was named a contestant—alongside Monica Seles and figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi (below)—on the sixth season of Dancing with the Stars, he said, "I don't want to get voted off the first week." His coaches might feel differently. Dancing runs through May 20—which means Taylor could still be waltzing during the team's mandatory minicamp. "In theory he could go back and forth," says ABC's Deena Katz, who recruited Taylor for the show. "Jason was just so excited that he talked to the team and the coaches, and they all signed off." ... Pink might be feeling a little blue these days. The singer of NBC's Sunday Night Football theme song has split from her husband of two years, motocross star Carey Hart. "One never knows the future," she wrote on her website, "but mine and Carey's just might involve beach babies and sunshine one day. Just not right now." ... Justin Timberlake will star in The Open Road, a movie about a Double A player who tries to reconnect with his dad (Jeff Bridges), an ex--baseball star. Screenwriter Michael Meredith knows a thing or two about being the son of a famous athlete. His dad is former Cowboys quarterback Don Meredith.
