Rachel Cantwell

Cantwell, a senior at Albright, never lost a race in four Middle Atlantic Conference championship meets, winning 12 individual titles—taking gold in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and the 200 individual medley in all four years—and 16 relay titles. She was named the meet's most outstanding swimmer four times.
Tom Ellis
DENVER > Australian Rules Football
Ellis, 39, a sales rep, is player-coach for the Denver Bulldogs of the U.S. Australian Rules Football League. His team went 13--1 and beat the San Diego Lions 21--15 for the national championship, Denver's sixth in Ellis's eight years with the Bulldogs. A backline player, he was co-MVP for the tournament.

Kenny Tate
FORESTVILLE, MD. > Basketball and Football
Kenny, a senior forward at DeMatha Catholic High, averaged 9.9 points, 12.7 rebounds and 6.1 blocks. As a wide receiver he caught 32 passes for 489 yards and six TDs. He also had four interceptions as a cornerback and was an All-America this fall and all-state three times.

Jillian Drouin
CORUNNA, ONT. > Track and Field
Drouin, a senior at Syracuse, won the Big East title in the indoor pentathlon with a school-record 4,099 points, a score that qualified her for the NCAA championship, and was second in the high jump (5'10"). As a junior she was an All-America in the heptathlon after finishing third at the NCAA outdoor championship.
Daniel Naroditsky
FOSTER CITY, CALIF. > Chess
Daniel, a sixth-grader at Crystal Springs Upland School, won the boys' under-12 world championship; he is only the second American to win a world youth title. He has won two national scholastic championships and has earned the distinction of master from both the national and international chess federations.
Naomi Sanon
BOSTON > Basketball
Sanon, a junior center at North Central, had a triple double with 12 points, 35 rebounds and 10 blocks in a 54--33 win over Mount Mary. She is averaging 16.4 points, 16.8 rebounds and 3.2 blocks and has helped the Rams earn a second straight trip to the National Christian College Athletic Association tournament.
