Week Ahead
THURSDAY 3/13
Cavaliers at Wizards
Playing mostly without its top two scorers—Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler—Washington has gone 6--12 since Feb. 1. But, this being the Eastern Conference, the Wizards are still in the playoff hunt. Both stars are expected back before the end of the regular season, but until they return, the scoring onus will be on Antawn Jamison (right), who has averaged 25.5 points in his last four games.
TNT 8 p.m.
SUNDAY 3/16
SEC Championship Game
If the two-time defending national champs want a chance to make it three in a row, they'd better be in this game. Florida, which lost its entire starting five from last year, is just 62nd in the RPI rankings and will likely need a strong showing in Atlanta to get into the tournament. All the bubble teams will discover their fates at 6 p.m., when CBS presents the brackets.
CBS 1 p.m.
MONDAY 3/17
Avalanche at Wild
Anaheim muscled its way to the Stanley Cup last year, and the NHL took note. Two weeks ago Colorado picked up defenseman Adam Foote, who is rugged—but not quite as rugged as Chris Simon (left). Acquired from the Islanders by Minnesota (which is tied with Colorado atop the Northwest Division), Simon is the proud owner of eight career suspensions, including an NHL-record 30-game ban for stepping on another player's ankle with his skate. Old-time hockey!
Versus 7 p.m.
Dancing with the Stars
Or make that Dancing with the Jocks. Athletes have captured the disco ball trophy in each of the last three seasons. This latest lineup includes Monica Seles, Kristi Yamaguchi and Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor (left, with partner Edyta Sliwinska).
ABC 8 p.m.
TUESDAY 3/18
On DVD: Bull Durham Collector's Edition
Twenty years after its release, Ron Shelton's minor league baseball classic is still fresh—and still arguably the best movie ever made about the national pastime. The new edition features commentary from stars Kevin Costner and Tim Robbins and a featurette about life in the minors.
SI PICK OF THE WEEK
SATURDAY 3/15
Pacific Life Open
So far, so good for fifth-ranked Maria Sharapova (above). The 20-year-old hasn't lost a match all year; in fact, she didn't drop a set until her third tournament. The hamstring and shoulder problems that plagued her last year are history. Sharapova proved that in January by breezing through the Australian Open, where she beat No. 1 Justine Henin, No. 3 Jelena Jankovic and No. 4 Ana Ivanovic. The latter two will join Sharapova in Indian Wells, Calif., for the tour's biggest non-Slam event.
