The Beat

THE BECKHAMS have a new favorite couple in L.A. Lately David, Victoria and their sons, Brooklyn and Romeo (below), have been courtside fixtures at Lakers games. After L.A.'s playoff win over Denver on April 20 Beckham chatted outside the Lakers' locker room with Kobe Bryant's wife, Vanessa, while his boys played with the Bryants' two daughters. Kobe has already taken his family to two L.A. Galaxy games this season to see Beckham. "He's my man," Bryant tells SI. "We shoot the s—about everything: sports, kids, life." ... Rangers pest Sean Avery already has a summer job lined up: unpaid intern at Vogue. Avery, who wants to be a fashion editor after his hockey career ends, wrote to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour last year expressing his desire to work there. He is expected to work alongside several editors, including those at Men's Vogue. A magazine spokesperson said the 28-year-old will perform regular tasks like "answering phones, working photo shoots, getting samples [and] contacting people."
