Leading Off

Lock Neck Monster
T.C. Dantzler of Colorado Springs withstood a choke hold from Cheney Haight of Orem, Utah, during their 163-pound Greco-Roman championship round last Saturday at the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials in Las Vegas (page 73). The 37-year-old Dantzler (inset) decisioned Haight in the first two matches to win the best-of-three final and earn a trip to Beijing.

Little Bit o' Heavin'
At Cardinals minicamp last week 6'5", 343-pound rookie tackle Brandon Keith, a seventh-round pick out of Northern Iowa, played cannon with the weighted ball in an agility drill—and both landed with a thud. As Keith battled for a roster spot, quarterback Matt Leinart (inset) began the campaign to keep his starting job after missing most of last season with a broken left collarbone.

Hear Me Roar
Tiger Woods (red shirt, right edge of green) reared back and bellowed after his 12-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole of the U.S. Open settled into the cup at Torrey Pines on Sunday, forcing a playoff with Rocco Mediate (inset). Woods prevailed in 19 holes on Monday to win his 14th major title (page 40).
