Fresno Statecelebrated the College World Series championship with a Bulldog pile after a6--1 victory over Georgia on June 25 in Omaha. While rightfielder SteveDetwiler drove in all of Fresno State's runs in the decisive Game 3, thirdbaseman Tommy Mendonca (inset) was the tournament's Most Outstanding Player,tying a CWS record with four homers. The NCAA title was the second in schoolhistory; the softball team won the 1998 championship.
