Dr. Z's Pick of the Week

In Bills lore the Chargers hold a special place: AFL Championship Game, 1964. San Diego scored easily against the league's No. 1 defense and was moving toward a second one. Tobin Rote swung a pass to Keith Lincoln. In the "shot heard round the world," Bills linebacker Mike Stratton met him with a perfectly timed shoulder, and the all-star fullback crumpled. He was through for the day with broken ribs, and so was San Diego. The Bills won their first championship, 20--7.

They still talk about it in Buffalo. Now there's something else to talk about, a live 4--1 team after many mediocre years. And the Chargers come to town this weekend. San Diego had its best game of the season, a 30--10 win over the Patriots, on Sunday. The Bills had a much needed bye after QB Trent Edwards suffered a concussion on Oct 5. Emotion will be running high. If Edwards (above) is right, I like Buffalo in a tough, low-scoring affair. If he's out, all bets are off.

Dr. Z picks more weekend games, Thursdays at SI.com.
