Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had an unobstructed view of Vincent Jackson when he whistled a four-yard touchdown pass to his wide receiver on Sunday, one of his three scoring throws in a 30--10 victory over the Patriots in San Diego.
Dodgers leftfielder Manny Ramirez had to be restrained by catcher Russell Martin and manager Joe Torre when the benches cleared in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday. The brouhaha started shortly after L.A.'s Hiroki Kuroda threw a pitch over the head of Phillies batter Shane Victorino in apparent retaliation for Brett Myers's throwing behind Ramirez in Game 2. The Dodgers got their first win in the series, 7--2 (page 40).
