Conceic√£o, a senior forward at Tusculum, was named the 2008 South Atlantic Conference player of the year and the Daktronics Southeast Region player of the year after topping Division II with 60 points (24 goals and 12 assists). He led the pioneers to a 20-3-1 record and their second consecutive conference title.

Annabeth, an 8th-grader at East Alexander Middle School, won two national World Karting Association championships and seven state WKA titles, on both asphalt and dirt tracks. She was selected to participate in NASCAR's Drive for Diversity program for young minority and female drivers.

Mike, a senior quarterback at Wootton High, threw for 451 yards in a 36--7 win over Blair, setting a Maryland public-school record for passing yards in a game. His 2,949 passing yards helped 7--3 Wootton to its first state playoff appearance since 1991.

Tormollan, a freshman at Franklin Pierce, was named Northeast-10 Conference goalkeeper of the year and first-team all-conference after setting two school records for freshmen: minutes played (1,414) and games started (20). She helped the Ravens to their first postseason appearance since 2001.

QUEENS, N.Y. > Track and Field
Kent, a 71-year-old retired track coach at St. Francis Prep (the alma mater of Vince Lombardi and Joe Torre), won five golds at the Empire State Games Masters Track in the triple, long and high jumps and the 80- and 300-meter hurdles. He was second in the 200- and 100-meter dashes.

Yolanda Odenyo
UPPSALA, SWEDEN > Soccer
Odenyo, a senior midfielder at Oklahoma State, was named the 2008 Big 12 offensive player of the year following a season in which she set school records in career goals (35) and single-season goals (16) and points (37). She was named first-team All--Big 12 for the third consecutive year.
