Seth Davis's Three-Pointer

1 Boston College looks like a fluke. Instead of building on their upset of then No. 1 North Carolina on Jan. 4, when Tyrese Rice (right) lit up the Tar Heels for 25 points, the Eagles had a disastrous week, dropping home games to Harvard and Miami.

2 Mike Montgomery is back. In his first year at Cal (15--2), the former Stanford and Golden State Warriors coach has the Bears atop the Pac-10 with a surprising 5--0 start.

3 Illinois State won't earn an at-large bid. The Redbirds started 14--0, but their nonconference strength of schedule is ranked 316th in the country, and they were 3--2 in the Missouri Valley Conference through Sunday.
