Berry, a junior righthander at Rice, pitched consecutive two-hit shutouts against then No. 1 Texas A&M and Notre Dame, and followed with a one-hitter against San Diego in which he allowed one unearned run. He was 4--0 with 31 strikeouts and a team-best 1.96 ERA through Sunday.

Skylar Diggins
SOUTH BEND > Basketball
Skylar, a senior point guard at Washington High, was named Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 29.0 points and leading the Panthers to a 26--1 record, including a runner-up finish in the state Class 4A tournament. The 5'10" Skylar has signed with Notre Dame.

NORFOLK > WRESTLING
Bryan, a junior at Norfolk Academy, was named most outstanding wrestler at the VISAA state tournament after pinning all four of his opponents in the 112-pound class within the first minute of each match. He finished the season 48--1 with 38 pins.

Huff, a junior catcher--first baseman at Tennessee, hit .647 (11 for 17) with 15 RBIs in five games of the season-opening BYU Red Desert Classic. Since then, she has run her RBI total to 48 in 30 games, helping the No. 6 Lady Vols to a 24--6 record at week's end.

Bill Edwards
NESCONSET, N.Y. > Softball
Edwards, a 64-year-old coach at Hofstra, got his 700th career win when the Pride defeated BYU 4--0; in 20 seasons at Hofstra he has won 15 Colonial Athletic Conference titles, including the last 11. Edwards will be inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Hall of Fame in December.

Alayna Markwordt
WOODBINE, MD. > Lacrosse
Markwordt, a freshman attacker at Ohio State, tied the Lady Buckeyes' record for points in a game when she had 11 (six goals, five assists) in a 22--12 upset of American Lacrosse Conference foe Johns Hopkins. A former high school All-America at Glenelg, she leads Ohio State in goals with 24.
