Young, a 46-year-old loan officer and the world's top middle-distance runner in the 45--49 age group, set the world age-group indoor record in the 1,500 meters (3:57.91) at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Earlier this year he ran personal bests in the mile (4:13) and the 800 meters (1:55.7).

Jen Mineau
SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. > Softball
Mineau, a freshman righthander at Fordham, threw two no-hitters, including a perfect game, in one week. After the wins over Saint Peter's and Delaware, she was named Division I national player of the week and the Atlantic-10 rookie and pitcher of the week.

SPOKANE > BASKETBALL
Chase, a senior point guard at Northwest Christian High, is the only player in Washington history to start on four state championship teams, finishing his career with 1,701 points, 422 assists and 325 steals. The Crusaders were 114--4 in that time.

Antje Maempel
ST√úTZERBACH, GERMANY > Nordic Skiing
Maempel, a sophomore at Denver, swept the women's classical and freestyle events at the NCAA championships, helping the Pioneers to their second-straight national title, the sixth this decade. Maempel has earned All-America honors in her two championship races in each of her years at Denver.

Stephen Swan
PERRY, OKLA. > Wrestling
Stephen, a senior competing at 160 pounds, won his third state 3A title while leading Perry High to its sixth straight team title—the 36th in Maroon history, a national record. Swan ended the season 45--0 with 191 takedowns; he was not taken down once. Over three seasons his record was 114--2.

Lauren Carrier
CROWNSVILLE, MD. > Lacrosse
Carrier, a senior midfielder at St. Mary's College of Maryland, set a Division III record for goals in consecutive games with three in a win over Washington College; through Sunday her streak stood at 54. A 2008 lacrosse All-America, she was also the Capital Athletic Conference women's soccer player of the year.
