James, a fifth-year senior at Boston University, was named most outstanding field performer at the America East Conference outdoor championships after winning the long jump (19'9¾"), the triple jump (43'2½") and running a leg of the 4 √ó 100-meter relay (46.23 seconds) for the victorious Terriers.
YUCAIPA, CALIF. > Baseball
Matt, a senior pitcher--third baseman, was hitting .543 with eight home runs and 37 RBIs for Yucaipa High, which was 23--2 through Sunday and ranked sixth in the nation by USA Today. On the mound the righthander was 3--0 with a 1.64 ERA and five saves. He is widely projected to be a first-round pick in June's amateur draft.

David, a senior at St. Paris Graham High competing at 135 pounds, received the Dave Schultz High School Excellence National Award, the highest honor for a scholastic wrestler. The four-time state champion, who carries a four-year grade point average of 4.0, compiled a 180--2 career record.

Erik, a junior distance runner at Novato High, lowered a 21-year-old Sacramento Meet of Champions record by 10 seconds with a winning time of 8:55.19 in the 3,200 meters. He also knocked more than two seconds off his 2009 best-in-the-nation 8:57.51, which he ran earlier this season at the Woody Wilson Invitational at UC Davis.
KATY, TEXAS > Bowling
Madison, a senior at Katy High, won the Texas high school bowling club girls' championship 279--266, the highest-scoring final in state club history. The Greater Houston Youth Female Bowler of the Year, Madison has also reached the national finals of the Teen Masters Championships the past two years.
GIG HARBOR, WASH. > Flatwater Kayak
Cedric, a junior at Covenant High, is the nation's No. 1--ranked junior flatwater spring kayaker after winning all four events he entered—the 500- and 1,000-meter solo races and two-man events (with Luke Potts of Lanier, Ga.)—at the junior world trials in Chula Vista, Calif. He will represent the U.S. at the junior world championships in Moscow.
