Spencer, a senior at Brighton High, won the state Class 5A singles title forthe fourth year in a row, helping the Bengals win their fourth straight teamchampionship. He finished his high school career undefeated, having lost onlytwo sets. In USTA Intermountain Section play, Spencer won all 14 championshipsin 18-and-under competition over the last three years.

BRUSLY, LA. > Softball
Bethany, a senior at Brusly High, pitched two perfect games, 10 no-hitterstotal and 21 shutouts in all while striking out 489 batters in 236 innings thisseason. She finished with a 26--10 record and a 0.44 ERA. In her two seasonsshe pitched all but two games for the Panthers, who advanced to the state Class3A quarterfinals this month before losing.

Curtis Beach
ALBUQUERQUE > Track and Field
Curtis, a senior at Albuquerque Academy, broke the 16-year-old national highschool record in the decathlon (7,909 points) at the Arcadia Invitational. Healso led the Chargers to the state Class 4A title by winning the pole vault,110-meter hurdles, high jump and 200- and 400-meter races. Curtis won 17individual state titles in four years.

BOISE, IDAHO > Rowing
Kannor, a senior at Bucknell University, led the Bison to their fourth straightPatriot League championship and became the first rower to be a member of theconference's Boat of the Year four seasons in a row. She was also named to theAll--Patriot League team and won the Christy Mathewson Award as Bucknell'soutstanding senior athlete.

Casey Grugan
RIDLEY PARK, PA. > Lacrosse
Grugan, a junior at Cabrini College, tied a 32-year-old NCAA Division IIIrecord by scoring at least one goal in 54 straight games; he also has thesecond-longest consecutive points streak (57 games). Grugan is the ColonialStates Athletic Conference player of the year for the second straight seasonand holds school season records for points (96) and assists (44).

Will Claye
PHOENIX > Track and Field
Claye, a freshman at Oklahoma, broke a 27-year-old U.S. Junior National recordin the triple jump with a leap of 55'7" and won the Big 12 title(55'9¾"), earning USA Track & Field athlete of the week honors. Duringthe indoor season he was All-America in the long jump and the triple jump.Claye's a former two-time Arizona high school triple jump champion.
