THIS WEEK'S MAIN EVENTS

U.S. AMATEUR

Ride 'Em, Cowboys

Rickie Fowler is the top-ranked amateur in the country, so he figures to be the favorite at this week's U.S. Amateur at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, but he should get a challenge from the No. 2 player, Peter Uihlein. A head-to-head meeting between the pair would have a little extra spice because they're teammates at Oklahoma State. If the home-on-the-range shootout doesn't materialize, you can always follow fish-out-of-water Steve Wilson, a 39-year-old gas-station owner from Mississippi who won last year's Mid-Amateur, and 2009 Byron Nelson Award winner Mike Van Sickle, son of SI senior writer Gary.

Staking a Claim

The Barclays is the first PGA Tour event played at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City. Since 2000, 47 Tour events have been held on either a new course or one that hadn't hosted a Tour event in 10 years. Unfamiliar territory seems to lend an advantage to two groups: those without a win and Tiger Woods.
