John, a senior at Felisa Rincon de Gautier Institute for Law and Public Policy, won the all-around title in the 14--15 division at the Visa Championships for the third straight year. He placed first in the floor exercises, pommel horse, still rings, parallel bars and horizontal bar. In the spring he won the all-around at the Junior Olympic National Championships.

Amber Monforte
RENO > Ultra Triathlon
Monforte, a 31-year-old registered nurse, won the women's division of the Ultraman Canada race, a three-day event consisting of a 6.2-mile swim (2:52:39) and a 90-mile bike ride (4:58:35) on Day 1, a 170-mile bike ride (9:14:22) on Day 2 and a 52.4-mile run (8:31:13) on Day 3. Her total time of 25:36:49 beat the women's record by more than three hours.

Max Durtschi
KETCHUM, IDAHO > Cycling and Skiing
Max, a senior at Indiana University High, won the road race and criterium in the 17--18 division at the USA Cycling Junior Road Nationals. Earlier this year he had three top five finishes at the Cross-Country Junior Nationals ski competition; he is one of 10 juniors selected by the U.S. Ski Team to train at the National Elite Group Camp.

Kassandra Barteau
MAPLE PARK, ILL. > Equestrian
Barteau, a 21-year-old show rider, was the gold medalist in freestyle dressage at the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships, scoring 73%. A month earlier she won the U.S. Equestrian Federation National Young Rider Championship for the third consecutive year. She was on GP Raymeister, a 10-year-old Holsteiner stallion, in both events.

Conner Pratt
HOOVER, ALA. > Golf
Conner, a senior at Spain Park High, shot a course-record, nine-under-par 62 in the second round of the American Junior Golf Association Southeast Open. He won the 54-hole event by 10 strokes, finishing at 13 under. In June he won another AJGA tournament by four strokes, at eight under. He also helped Spain Park win the state 6A title for the past two years.

Julie Brandt-Glass
OLYMPIA, WASH. > Roller Sports
Brandt-Glass, a 30-year-old roller-equipment store owner, won the women's world-class event at the Indoor Inline National Championships after taking gold in the 500- and 1,000-meter races, silver in the 100 time trial and bronze in the 5,000. A former member of the U.S. World Team, she has won 17 world championship and nine indoor national titles.
