NEXT WEEK'S MAINEVENT

TOURCHAMPIONSHIP

The Past asPrologue

Who among theplayers in next week's field have track records at Atlanta's East Lake GolfClub over the last five years that suggest a victory? No surprise, really, butTiger Woods is tops. In three appearances he has a win, two other top 10s and a66.58 scoring average. Close behind is Retief Goosen, who also has a win andtwo other top 10s, although he has averaged a flat 68 strokes, and ScottVerplank, who has three top 10s in three appearances. Geoff Ogilvy, with a bestfinish of 17th, and Kenny Perry (a 20th) appear to be long shots. And the wildcard? That would be Y.E. Yang, who has won twice this season but has neverplayed the Tour Championship.

Worst to First

For the 30th-rankedplayer in the Tour Championship to take the FedEx Cup, he must win and the topsix players must falter. Here's how far each of those front-running half dozenwould have to fall.
