Moore, thewomen's crew coach at Williams, guided the U.S. Junior national team's women'seight to a gold medal at the World Rowing Junior Championships and a berth inthe Youth Olympic Games in Singapore next August. Last spring Williams wasundefeated and won its fourth consecutive NCAA Division III title, Moore'sfifth in 11 years at the school.

ESSEX, ENGLAND> Field Hockey

Sherer, a seniorforward at Connecticut, led the Big East with 19 goals through Sunday andbecame the first field hockey player to earn conference player of the weekhonors for four consecutive weeks. She helped the Huskies to an 11--1 startwith hat tricks against No. 20 Michigan, Providence and Quinnipiac and is inthe top five in the nation in scoring, with 1.58 goals per game.

HARRISONBURG, VA.> Football

Michael, a juniortailback at Harrisonburg High, rushed for 397 yards in the first half of theBlue Streaks' 69--27 win over Robert E. Lee, scoring eight touchdowns,including three on runs of 80, 69 and 65 yards. The next week, in a 35--27 winover Heritage, he had a career-high 33 carries that produced 336 rushing yardsand three TDs.

WATKINSVILLE, GA.> Cross-country

Howe, a junior atKennesaw State, won her fourth straight race of the season, the 5K RunFitInvitational, in 17:56. She also won the 5K Crimson Classic (17:13), the2.2-mile UTC PowerAde Invitational (11:15) and the 1.2-mile JSU Struts (11:07).Her four straight Atlantic Sun runner of the week awards gave her a total ofeight in her career, the most in conference history.

PATASKALA, OHIO> Soccer

Stout, a seniorgoalie at Mount Vernon Nazarene, had seven straight shutouts this season toextend his school career record to 34 through Sunday. The seven shutouts werealso the most in the NAIA. He set the school season record with 14 shutouts in2008, when the Cougars advanced to the semifinals of the NAIA championshiptournament.

Kassidy Cook

THE WOODLANDS,TEXAS > Diving

Kassidy, afreshman at The Woodlands High, won gold medals on the one-meter andthree-meter boards in the 14--15 age division at the Junior Pan AmericanChampionships. Earlier in the summer she won both events at the Speedo JuniorNationals and won gold in the three-meter synchronized event at the AT&TNationals, with partner Loren Figueroa.
