Chrissie Wellingtonof Great Britain won her third consecutive Ironman World Championship inKailua-Kona, Hawaii, last Saturday, finishing in a course record 8:54:02. Likemany competitors, Wellington rolls across the finish line in memory oftriathlete Jon Blais, who died of ALS in 2007. Wellington is an ambassador ofthe Blazeman Foundation for ALS, which is trying to raise $750,000 towardresearch.

Vikings runningback Adrian Peterson had a close-up view of the end zone marker—thanks to Ramssafety Oshiomogho Atogwe—as he scored from five yards out on Sunday in St.Louis. Peterson rushed 15 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns in a 38--10victory that ran Minnesota's record to 5--0.
Rockie Toppled
Phillies baserunner Pedro Feliz flipped Clint Barmes as the Rockies' second baseman turned asixth-inning double play last Thursday in Game 2 of the National LeagueDivision Series in Philadelphia. Colorado held on to win 5--4, but the Philliestook Game 3 in Denver and a 2--1 lead in the series. In the other NLDS, theDodgers swept the Cardinals (page 46).

Oregon runningback Kenjon Barner got the upper hand on UCLA cornerback Sheldon Price at theend of a 48-yard run last Saturday in Pasadena. Barner gained 50 yards on fourcarries and had a 100-yard kickoff return to start the second half, rallyingthe Ducks to a 24--10 victory.
