THIS WEEK'S MAINEVENT
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKEOPEN
Someone Old?Someone New?
For the last fiveyears the Tour's Vegas stop has been won by a rookie without a previousvictory, so going by the money list, this week's favorites would be MarcLeishman (47th), Webb Simpson (70th), Jeff Klauk (82nd) and Scott Piercy(86th). Of course last week's action might inspire a former Presidents Cupper. Those include Stuart Appleby, Woody Austin, Davis Love III and David Toms, whohas rebounded to 14th in earnings after dropping to 131st last year.
Card Sharks
Most players reachthe PGA Tour through Q school or the Nationwide tour. Since 1995 more of theNationwide guys have retained their cards (below), but the best a first-yearNationwider has finished is 15th on the money list, while in 2006 Q schoolerBrett Wetterich finished 10th, the same spot Y.E. Yang currently holds.
