JOHNSTOWN, PA. > Football

Josh, a senior running back at Bishop McCort High, set a school single-game rushing record (327 yards) in a 69--35 win over Richland and also tied the McCort single-game touchdown record (six) held by his father, Dave, who died of cancer in August. In a win against Westmont Hilltop, Josh scored on an 80-yard kickoff return and a 67-yard punt return.

Katie Flood

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA > Cross-country

Katie, a senior at Dowling Catholic High, won her fourth straight individual championship of the year, the 5K Roy Griak Invitational (18:07). She also won the Ames Invitational (14:19), the Bobcat Invitational (14:08) and the Heartland Classic (14:10), all of which were 4K runs. Katie is a two-time Class 4A state cross-country champion.

Phillip Sims

CHESAPEAKE, VA. > Football

Phillip, a senior quarterback at Oscar Smith High, broke the Virginia High School League record for career passing yards, throwing for 253 in a 42--0 win over Deep Creek to run his total to 9,179. He also had four touchdown passes in the victory. Phillip, an all-state selection in 2008, is 42--3 as a starter heading into this week's game.

Amber Chandronnait

BOW, N.H. > Tennis

Chandronnait, a junior at Southern New Hampshire, won the singles title at the Wilson/ITA East Regional for the second straight year, defeating Concordia's Ola Roberts, 7--5, 7--5, in the championship match and earning Northeast-10 player of the week honors. The 2008--09 conference player of the year, Chandronnait had a singles record of 30--2 through Sunday.

Justin Rappel

SHERMAN OAKS, CALIF. > Water Polo

Rappel, a senior driver at Southern Cal, led the No. 3 Trojans to the UC Irvine Invitational title, scoring six goals, including three in a 9--8 win over No. 2 UCLA in the semifinals and one in a 7--6 triumph over No. 4 California in the final. Rappel, the Trojans' leading goal scorer (27) through Sunday, earned Mountain Pacific Sports Federation player of the week honors.

Morgan Broekhuis

COLORADO SPRINGS > Volleyball

Morgan, a senior outside hitter at Colorado Springs Christian High, had 60 kills, 23 digs and 51 assists in five matches in leading the Lions (17--0 at week's end) to the Eaglecrest Invitational title. In 2008 Morgan helped her team win its fifth straight Class 3A state championship and earned her second straight Class 3A player of the year award.
