Cyclone Season

Iowa State forced eight turnovers in beating Nebraska in Lincoln for the first time since 1977, but that was only part of the story behind the 9--7 victory. Starting QB Austen Arnaud (bruised right hand) and Big 12 rushing leader Alexander Robinson (sore groin) didn't play, and several other Cyclones were battling a stomach virus. Jerome Tiller (below), a redshirt freshman making his first start, threw for 102 yards and rushed for 65. "We had guys puking in buckets before the game, at the hotel, at halftime," said first-year coach Paul Rhoads. The Cyclones (5--3, 2--2) are a game behind Kansas State in the messy Big 12 North race and are a good bet to make their first bowl game since 2005. They also have a shot at their first Big 12 title game.
