Things I Think I Think

SI's fearless NFL expert opines on all the latest news, buzz and inside information. This is just a taste of what you'll get online.

1 I think the most logical endgame to Raiders coach Tom Cable's story may be for him to submit to a psychiatric evaluation, which could lead to counseling as part of the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy. The league is still investigating charges by former Raiders assistant Randy Hanson that Cable (below) broke his jaw in August, and on Sunday, ESPN's Outside the Lines alleged that Cable has a history of abuse against women. At the very least, the league should try to determine whether he has anger-management issues.

2 I think for a veteran who's surely been mugged on more than a few pass routes, the Ravens' Derrick Mason went way over the top after having his jersey grabbed by Broncos cornerback Alphonso Smith. Mason deserved the 15-yard flag for unsportsmanlike conduct after throwing his helmet. Calls get missed, Derrick. Relax.

3 I think the retractable roof should be closed for afternoon games in Indianapolis from here on out after what we saw in the first half of the 49ers-Colts game. With the sun shining on the end zone and the Colts driving for a touchdown, Peyton Manning threw a catchable ball to tight end Dallas Clark—only he never saw it. The sun got in his eyes.
