Case's Case

It has taken two months, but the Heisman race has finally found candidates who are playing to win the award rather than to not lose it. Down eight points at Tulsa with 3:23 remaining last Saturday, Houston quarterback Case Keenum(below) rallied the Cougars to a touchdown and a field goal as time expired for a 46--45 win. Keenum, who threw for 522 yards and three TDs, leads the nation in passing (423.9 yards per game). Also making moves were a trio of running backs—Alabama's Mark Ingram (144 yards against LSU), Clemson's C.J. Spiller (312 all-purpose yards, two TDs against Florida State) and Stanford's Toby Gerhart (223 rushing yards, three scores against Oregon)—and Texas QB Colt McCoy (a career-high 470 passing yards against Central Florida).
