LEADING OFF

A Hard Left

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow showed his variation of the Heisman pose to Florida State cornerback Korey Mangum last Saturday in Gainesville. In his final home game—a 37--10 romp at the Swamp—Tebow boosted his candidacy for a second Heisman by accounting for five touchdowns and 311 yards of total offense.

Cole Cocked

Hurricanes left wing Erik Cole got flipped skates over teakettle on Nov. 19 in Raleigh after colliding with a Maple Leafs defenseman. Cole scored once, and Carolina won 6--5 in a shootout.

Safety First

With his goggles and mouth guard, Clemson forward Bryan Narcisse had everything covered—except the ball—in his battle with Texas A&M's Khris Middleton during the 76 Classic last Thursday in Anaheim. Both players scored seven points, but Middleton's Aggies won, 69--60.

High Low

Germany's Vanessa Low soared to victory in the women's long jump last Thursday at the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation World Games in Bangalore, India. Low, who competed wearing prosthetic racing blades, set a world record of 12'10 1/3" in the F42/F44 category, which includes above- and below-the-knee amputations and other severe impairments in walking. More than 800 disabled athletes from 43 countries participated in the weeklong event.
