Cory McGee
PASS CHRISTIAN, MISS. > Track and Field
Cory, a senior at Pass Christian High, won the girls' high school mile at the Millrose Games in New York City (4:52.77) after finishing second the last three years. A three-time Mississippi Gatorade girls' cross-country runner of the year, Cory has won five state Class 3A or 4A cross-country titles. She also holds state outdoor records in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.
Laurie Schiller
DEERFIELD, ILL. > Fencing
Schiller, in his 32nd year as coach at Northwestern, became the second college coach in his sport to win 1,000 bouts when the No. 5 Wildcats went 4--2 at the NYU duals. Through Sunday his record was 1,022--416 (men's and women's teams combined). The Northwestern women have finished in the top 10 at the NCAA tournament 10 seasons in a row.

Courtney Strain
WOODLAND, ALA. > Basketball
Courtney, a senior at Woodland High, became the first girl in state high school history to score 5,000 points, when she got 15 in a 78--25 win over Wadley. A varsity player since the seventh grade, Courtney has been Class 2A player of the year twice and all-state five times. She holds state records for points in a career (5,219) and a season (1,261).

Torrin Lawrence
JACKSONVILLE > Track and Field
Lawrence, a sophomore at Georgia, set an NCAA record in the 300 meters (32.32) at the Hokie Invitational, beating the old mark by .35 of a second. It is the world's fifth-best time ever in the indoor 300. He also ran the second leg for the winning 4 √ó 400-relay team (3.11.01). An All-America as a freshman, Lawrence was SEC male runner of the week.
Mandi Rodriguez
BALDWIN PARK, CALIF. > Gymnastics
Rodriguez, a senior at Oregon State, won the all-around competition (39.475) to help the No. 6 Beavers defeat No. 5 Stanford and Seattle Pacific in a tri-meet. It was her second all-around title this season, and she was named Pac-10 gymnast of the week. As a junior Rodriguez was the conference gymnast of the year and earned vault and floor-exercise All-America honors.
Nick Sinclair
VICTORIA, B.C. > Swimming
Sinclair, a freshman at Victoria, won the 400 IM (4:24.85), 200 butterfly (2:02.88) and 200 (1:59.54) and 100 backstrokes (55.24) at the Canada West conference championships, earning rookie and athlete of the meet honors. A member of the Canadian junior national team, he recently won the 200 back in the 17--18 division at the New South Wales 13--18 championships.
