Things I Think I Think
SI's fearless NFL expert opines on all the latest news, buzz and inside information. This is just a taste.
1 I think the Ravens' one-year deal with Donté Stallworth for $900,000 in salary and $300,000 in incentives is good for both parties. Stallworth (below) is as fast now as he was earlier in his career, and he's supremely motivated to be upstanding and productive after a yearlong suspension stemming from a guilty plea to a DUI manslaughter charge last year.
2 I think I'd be shocked if the Bucs were remotely serious about trading up to No. 1 in the draft from their No. 3 spot as has been rumored. Tampa Bay has been shedding salary over the last 15 months the way I wish I could shed pounds, which is to say, with consistent regularity. Paying JaMarcus Russell--like money ($39 million in the first three years) to a defensive tackle would blow everyone in the league away.
3 I think it's unlikely the Panthers will place a franchise tag on DE Julius Peppers, because they'd then have to guarantee him at least $21.3 million on a one-year contract if he chose to sign and play for the one-year deal this year.
