Who's Hot

MARK TEIXEIRA

That historically slow start? It's history! After hitting .136 in April, Teixeira (right) has battled back with a .364 May average. Last Saturday he crossed the Mendoza Line with brio, clubbing a trio of homers against the Red Sox, making him the second Bomber, after Lou Gehrig, to bomb three versus Boston.

DROGBA PRAISE

On Sunday, Didier Drogba deftly demonstrated why he deserved the covers of TIME and Vanity Fair, sealing the Golden Boot (for most goals this season, 29) and Chelsea's first Premier League title in four years with a hat trick against Wigan, including a head-in after his own bicycle kick was blunted.

LOS SUNS' HAPPY STATE

¬°Arriba! After Phoenix owner Robert Sarver declared his opposition to Arizona's new immigration law, he was rewarded when Steve Nash and mates (wearing the Spanish-language version of their unis at home) swept the Spurs to reach the West finals—where they last were citizens in 2006.

Who's Not

NEW SOX ERA?

Things looked bleak for fourth-place Boston, which hadn't been so far back (7½ games) in the AL East through 31 games since 1996. As worrisome for the Sox as losing their fifth straight series to the Yankees was their pitching, supposedly the BoSox bulwark: Their staff ERA was a red-faced 5.04.

TASE CRAZE

The topic that took over talk radio: Who's more at fault, the towel-waving 17-year-old (left) who made like a Citizens Bank Park squirrel or the stadium staff too slow to catch him? Bottom line: Security will Tase you, bro, as another officer demonstrated on a Tiger Woods heckler at the TPC.

NEW WEST DILLON: HATE!

Friday Night Lights (routinely brilliant) returned to NBC with Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler, left) rethinking that "clear eyes, full hearts" mantra. His East Dillon Lions not only could lose—they had to quit at halftime. Over at West Dillon, bratty villain J.D. McCoy looks golden. A pox on those Panthers!
