Queen Harrison

RICHMOND > Track and Field

Harrison, a senior at Virginia Tech, took first in the 100-meter (12.67) and 400-meter (54.55) hurdles at the Division I championships, becoming the first woman to win both events at a D-I national meet. The Atlantic Coast Conference titlist in both, Harrison was the 2010 NCAA indoor 60 hurdles champ and advanced to the 400 hurdles semifinals in the '08 Olympics.

Jeff Grodecki

GLENVIEW, ILL. > Baseball

Grodecki, a junior third baseman at Illinois Wesleyan, went 5 for 5 with two home runs and three RBIs as the Titans beat SUNY Cortland 17--5 to win the Division III College World Series. Two days earlier Grodecki, the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, doubled and scored the decisive run in the eighth inning of a 4--3 win over Heidelberg.

Laura Roesler

FARGO, N.D. > Track and Field

Laura, a senior at South High, won the 800 meters at the Midwest Distance Gala (2:07) two weeks after winning the 200 (24.90), 400 (53.25) and 800 (2:17.64) at the North Dakota Class A meet. She finished her high school career with a record 20 individual state track titles, along with two cross-country titles. Laura will run for Oregon.

Rich Abrahams

DENVER > Swimming

Abrahams, 65, won six individual races in the 65-to-69 division at the U.S. Masters Swimming Short Course Nationals, setting USMS age-group records in each. He took first in the 50-yard (22.10), 100 (49.42) and 200 freestyle (1:57.54), the 50 (24.94) and 100 butterfly (56.36), and the 100 individual medley (1:00.32). He also set a record in the 50 back (27.74).

Victoria Capozucca

BROOKLYN > Softball

Victoria, a senior pitcher at Poly Prep Country Day School, went 3--0 with 31 strikeouts in 19 innings, including a 15-strikeout perfect game against Hackley School in the semifinals, to lead the Blue Devils to their fifth straight New York independent school tournament title. In five years on the varsity, Victoria was 61--6, including 15--0 in the state tournament.

Andrew Krummen

ZIONSVILLE, IND. > Rugby

Andrew, a senior forward at Zionsville High, earned all-state honors and was named the state Division II MVP after leading the Eagles to a 13--0 regular season record and the D-II title. The team's leading scorer with 15 tries and five conversion kicks, Andrew made the Rugby Indiana all-star team, which will play in Ontario in July.
