Mark Cockerton

Cockerton, a freshman attackman at Virginia, scored four goals to earn MVP honors and help the North All-Stars beat the South 17--12 at the Under Armour All-America Classic. In 2008 he was fourth in scoring (18 goals) for Team Canada at the U19 World Games. In '09 he led the Whitby Warriors of the Junior A Lacrosse League in scoring (53 goals, 46 assists).
Mary Harada
WEST NEWBURY, MASS. > Track and Field
Harada, a 75-year-old retired college professor, set the 75-and-up world record in the mile at the Hayward Classic in Oregon (7:55.74), lowering the mark she set the week before at the Adrian Martinez Classic in Massachusetts (8:11.55). A winner of four masters world gold medals and more than 30 national titles, Harada is in the USA Track & Field Masters Hall of Fame.

Brad Beal
ST. LOUIS > Basketball
Brad, a senior guard at Chaminade College Preparatory School, scored 19 points to help Team USA beat Poland 111--80 in the gold medal game of the FIBA U17 world championship in Germany and finish 8--0. He was named tournament MVP after averaging a team-high 18.3 points a game and shooting 31 of 65 from three-point range.

Maggie Steffens
DANVILLE, CALIF. > Water Polo
Maggie, a senior attacker at Monte Vista High, scored the winning penalty shot for the U.S. women's national team in a 12--11 win over Australia in the title match of the FINA World League Super Final. The team's youngest player, she had five goals in six games. In 2009 Maggie led Monte Vista with 120 goals, helping the Mustangs to California's North Coast Section title.
Joey Garber
PETOSKEY, MICH. > Golf
Garber, a freshman at Michigan, shot a three-day total of 210 to finish six under and win the Coca-Cola Junior Championship, an AJGA event, by four. Two weeks earlier he became the third-youngest player to win the Michigan Amateur Championship. At Petoskey High, Garber won the state Division 2 title and was named Michigan's Mr. Golf for the second straight year.
Jennifer Valente
SCRIPPS RANCH, CALIF. > Cycling
Jennifer, a sophomore at Cathedral Catholic High, won the match sprint, scratch race, 500-meter time trial and points race to take the overall omnium title in the women's 15-and-16-year-old division at the USA Cycling Junior Track Nationals. In June she won the omnium in the same division at the Southern California/Nevada Cycling Association championships.
