Things I Think I Think
SI's fearless NFL expert opines on all the latest news, buzz and inside information. This is just a taste of what you'll get online.
1 I think I really can't figure out why Tavaris Jackson, the presumptive starter for the Vikings if Brett Favre actually retires, would play just one series in Minnesota's first preseason game last Saturday against the Rams. I thought the object of this preseason would be to get Jackson (below) enough reps so he'd feel comfy if he has to play.
2 I think the Raiders looked better than we all thought they would in their 17--9 win over the Cowboys. I guess it was smart to keep Tom Cable on as coach to give the team continuity and equally as smart to play an attacking style of defense from the first preseason series.
3 I think Jason Taylor will play between 15 and 25 snaps a game for the Jets this season as a designated pass rusher. I think he'll not only be O.K. with not being a full-time player but will also like this setup more because for a guy who'll be 36 on opening day, it's silly to think he'd get max production playing most of the game.
