ON THE NUMBER

Dry Spell

Rounds played were up significantly throughout the Northeast in June 2010 compared with June '09. It's tempting to interpret the increase as a promising economic indicator—the financial center is feeling flush enough to start teeing it up again—but there's likely a simpler explanation. For the month, rainfall was down by 20% or more throughout the region.
