Taylor Paris

BARRIE, ONT. > Rugby

Taylor, a senior outside center at Barrie Central Collegiate, had two tries for the Ontario U-18 team in a 43--13 win over British Columbia, leading the squad to its second straight Rugby Canada national title. He led the team in scoring, with nine tries in five games. Also, Taylor is the youngest player to make Canada's men's 7s squad and has three tries in 12 of the team's matches.

Lauren Morgan

ODESSA, FLA. > Waterskiing

Lauren, a senior at Laurel Springs School, won gold in the slalom and jumping events and bronze in the overall competition at the Junior Water Ski world championships in San Gervasio, Italy. Her showing helped the U.S. win the team title. The next week, competing in the 17-and-under division at the U.S. nationals, Lauren won the jumping event and was second overall.

Qyendairus Griffin

BATESVILLE, MISS. > Football

Qyendairus, a senior running back at South Panola High, rushed for 286 yards and scored six touchdowns in a 65--35 win over Colquitt County (Ga.). The previous week he rushed for 230 yards and two touchdowns in a 38--0 win over Petal (Miss.). As a junior Qyendairus was an all-state linebacker for the 6A state champion Tigers.

Elizabeth Sharis

BETTENDORF, IOWA > Rowing

Elizabeth, an eighth-grader at Pleasant Valley Junior High, won the women's junior B (16-and-under) single scull race (8:39.25) at the U.S. Rowing club nationals. She also helped the YMCA Quad Cities quad to second and third place in the junior A (U-18) and B races, respectively. Earlier this year Elizabeth set seven U-12 world indoor rowing records.

Dalton Bernardi

CHOCTAW, OKLA. > Baseball

Bernardi, a sophomore pitcher and outfielder at Rose State College, was MVP of the American Legion World Series after leading the Midwest City (Okla.) Outlaws to a 10--2 record and the title. He batted .420 with 15 RBIs and stole 12 bases in as many attempts. In the final, a 10--1 win over Eden Prairie (Minn.), Bernardi had three RBIs and pitched 21/3 scoreless innings in relief.

Kaitlyn Jones

WILMINGTON, DEL. > Swimming

Kaitlyn, a sophomore at The Tatnall School, won the 200-meter individual medley (2:14.53) at the inaugural Youth Olympics, in Singapore. She also took silver in the 200 backstroke (2:12.20). As a freshman Kaitlyn was the Delaware swimmer of the year; at the state meet she won the 100-yard backstroke and 200 IM for the second straight year, setting a record in the latter.
