One of the stated goals of the FedEx Cup playoffs was to revive the moribound and often skipped (especially by Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson) Tour Championship. In that regard the playoffs have been a success. As the chart below shows, the Tour Championship had an average TV rating of 1.7 for the three years before the inaugural FedEx Cup, and 2.5 since, including Vijay Singh's anticlimactic runaway in 2008.
