Nicole Buzo

LODI, CALIF. > Volleyball

Nicole, a senior outside hitter at Tokay High, had 57 total kills, an average of 7.13 a game, in wins over both Sheldon and Stagg. She also served eight aces and had 21 digs. A member of the Junior Nationals--qualifying NorCal Volleyball Club and her regional USA Volleyball High Performance International Junior team, Nicole leads the Tri-City League in kills, hits and aces.

Kyle Carnahan

MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA > Football

Kyle, a junior safety and running back at Marshalltown High, scored on an 86-yard kickoff return, a 38-yard reception and a seven-yard run in a 34--31 win over Johnston. He also had an interception and 15 tackles. Through five games, Kyle has accounted for 538 yards and has three interceptions. He leads the Central Iowa Metro District in tackles, kick returns and picks.

Sharon Zavala

GRAND ISLAND, NEB. > Volleyball

Zavala, in her 35th season as girls' head coach at Grand Island Central Catholic School became Nebraska's winningest high school coach in any sport, with 794 victories, when her Crusaders beat Mercy 25--3, 25--9. Through Sunday her record was 803--146. Zavala has coached eight state championship teams.

Andre Bevil

ORANGE, TEXAS > Football

Bevil, a junior quarterback at Lamar, threw for a total of 645 yards and seven TDs over two games as the Cardinals beat Webber International 21--14 and Southeastern Louisiana 29--28. The wins were the first in 21 years for the school, which last fielded a football team in 1989. Bevil set a school mark with 429 yards passing in the opener, a 30--27 loss to McNeese State.

Allie Woodward

GREEN BAY > Cross-country

Allie, a senior at Notre Dame Academy, won her fourth straight individual title of the year, the 5K girls' high school race at the Roy Griak Invitational (18:22.3). She also won the Marshfield Columbus (14:28.9) and Chilton (14:30.1) invitationals and the Green Bay City Meet (14:49.4), all 4K runs. Allie was the 2010 state Division 2 outdoor 1,600- and 3,200-meter champion.

Jake Gagne

RAMONA, CALIF. > Motorcycle Road Racing

Gagne, 18, clinched the 2010 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup by six points after finishing second by .06 of a second with a time of 30:59:61 in the 10th and final race of the season, in Misano, Italy. He finished in the top 10 in every race and took first in Assen, the Netherlands; Brno, Czech Republic; and twice in Sachsenring, Germany.
