Tesho Akindele

THORNTON, COLO. › Soccer

Akindele, a freshman midfielder-forward at Colorado School of Mines, became the first player in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference history to score three consecutive hat tricks, helping the Orediggers to wins over Colorado Christian (in which he scored four goals), UC Colorado Springs and Adams State. Through Sunday he led the league in total goals (17).

Stephanie Niemer

ERLANGER, KY. › Volleyball

Niemer, a senior outside hitter at Cincinnati, had 39 kills and a combined .578 hitting percentage to lead the Bearcats to straight-set wins over DePaul and Notre Dame and earn a record fifth consecutive Big East player of the week honor. Through Sunday, Niemer led the conference in kills (444) and points (517.5). She was All--Big East in 2008 and '09.

JD Elliott

FRESNO › Motocross

JD, a sophomore at Jinny Lind High, won the 450cc stock novice class at the Dodge Amateur Nationals in Sacramento, his first national title. He also finished third in the 250cc modified novice class. JD has 269 first-place finishes overall in his racing career and 20 top 10s in national amateur competition, including eight podium finishes.

Risper Kimaiyo

ITEN, KENYA › Cross-country

Kimaiyo, a UTEP sophomore, won the 6K Pre-National Invitational (20:03) in Terre Haute, Ind., to earn her third Conference USA Cross Country athlete of the week honor this season. In September she broke her own meet 5K record, at the Lobo Invitational (17:00). In 2009 Kimaiyo was the first freshman to be named conference Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year.

Jerry Frentsos

ANNAPOLIS, MD. › Swimming

Frentsos, a 44-year-old Realtor, set five world records over six months in the master's 45--49 age group, breaking his own marks in the long course 200-meter individual medley three times (2:14.90) and setting records in the short course 200-meter IM (2:09.71) and long course 400-meter IM (4:47.65). Frentos was a three-time All-America at Florida.

Sydney Bolen

CORDOVA, TENN. › Track and Field

Sydney, a sophomore at Westminster Academy, was named the U.S. Paralympics girls' track athlete of the year. Racing against other cerebral palsy athletes with similar movement limitations, Sydney set national records for the 100 (19.79) and 200 meters (45.73) and qualified for the 2011 world championships in New Zealand in both events.
